Press Release
NEW DELHI
The
freezing of the bank accounts of Indian Social Action Forum (INSAF) by Ministry
of Home Affairs, Government of India (GoI) has been condemned as undemocratic,
irresponsible and prejudicial by INSAF General Secretary Mr. Chitaranjan Singh.
In a press note he said that he received a communiqué from the Director of the
GoI, an official in the Home Ministry, Mr. A.K.Sinha in INSAF office in
Katwaria Sarai, New Delhi stating that INSAF's activities are "prejudicial and
against public interest" and hence the bank account has been frozen instantly.
In case INSAF needs to spend it's fund, it has to take prior permission from
the Home Ministry.
INSAF
General Secretary Mr. Singh further said that INSAF was formed after the
demolition of Babri Mosque to resist globalisation, combat communalism and defend
democracy. Singh said that INSAF was formed primarily to promote and defend the
interests of the people.
He
further said that last year (2012) INSAF has challenged the new draconian FCRA Act
2010 and the new rules formulated by the Home Ministry in the Supreme Court in which rallies,
demonstrations, protests etc. are prohibited. The petition has been admitted
and the GoI has still not filed it's reply. Singh condemned the Home Ministry’s
action on democratic organisations like INSAF as naked autocratic attack and demanded
immediate withdrawal of its order and said that the Supreme Court of India will
be immediately moved on Monday 6 May 2013.
