The
Prime
Minister’s
Office
Lao Peoples Democratic Republic
Vientiane
Dear Sir,
We, organisations and individuals, committed to peace and justice from India, are shocked to learn about the enforced disappearance of Mr. Sombath Somphone. We were very very impressed with his depth of knowledge and experience, when we met him in the Lao PDR, during the recent Asia Europe Peoples Forum, in which Mr. Somphone co-chaired key sessions.
It has been more than three weeks since Mr Sombath's disappearance and we are dismayed at the lack of progress in locating him. We urge the Lao Government to speedily investigate the disappearance of Mr. Sombath, and ensure the safe return of Mr. Sombath to his family and work, where he is greatly needed, and has been a major inspiration for young social workers.
We are with Mr. Sombath and your Government in ensuring that real happiness and development of the people of Laos, India and the world is achieved.
